Peter Cooper is the President and founder of TTS (Total Training Solutions) of Millburn, NJ, one of the premier providers of professional services and assistance for educators in New Jersey.
Mr. Cooper launched TTS in 1995 to help school districts prepare for the expanding use of technology in the classroom. At the time, Mr. Cooper expressed concern about the capability of teachers to use technology as an instructional tool. He noted that school officials were spending millions of taxpayer dollars on technology, yet few teachers had the skills to integrate technology in the curriculum.
Realizing the need for ongoing and sustained training, school districts and independent schools throughout northern New Jersey began hiring TTS to train their teachers. The rapidly-growing company now serves a variety of school districts, large and small, as well as private and parochial schools.
Born in Newark, Mr. Cooper graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in 1979 and went on to the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., where he graduated in 1983 with a degree in Business Management and Finance.
Mr. Cooper wanted to offer a solution to this problem, drawing upon his extensive knowledge of technology and business operations. Consequently, TTS was born. His initial strategy was to gather information from the people who run the schools: boards of education, superintendents, and other school administrators. After two years of synthesizing this information, he responded to their needs with a user-friendly program that was results driven training for educators. His well thought out methodology, combined with a staff of highly qualified instructors, led to immediate results in the districts that hired his company
.
TTS is growing rapidly, and is now an indispensable component of professional development initiatives in many schools throughout northern New Jersey. Mr. Cooper believes that the great potential of technology as a teaching tool will only be realized if training becomes a regular feature of school technology budgets.
Mr. Cooper is married with three children; Stefani 5, Zachary 7 and Michelle 18. |
